The Tourism Startup and Innovation Competition is a competition held for the first time in Ho Chi Minh City in 2018 with the coordination of the Department of Tourism and the City Department of Science and Technology.

With the mission to promote the development of the tourism startup ecosystem and also promote the overall development of the innovative startup ecosystem, the competition is an opportunity for the tourism industry to receive ideas. Creative ideas in tourism, so that leading businesses can train, invest, and incubate to form innovative businesses and products in the future.

Up to now, aware of the value of inter-regional connection in tourism, the Department of Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City presides and coordinates with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism/Departments of Tourism of 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta to organize the organization. The competition is for tourism start-up projects across Vietnam to select projects that are creative in solutions, products, technology... suitable for the development of the tourism industry in Ho Chi Minh City. and the Mekong Delta region, especially exploiting the value of regional connectivity in tourism.

Main timelines of the competition:

1.    The launching ceremony of the Contest will be held in Ben Tre on April 16, 2024

2.    Competition rounds:

- Reception time: From April 16, 2024 to June 30, 2024

- Preliminary round: From July 1 to July 10, 2024 (The Organizing Committee will select the 40 best projects according to selection criteria to enter the next round)

- Competition round: Expected on July 18 in Can Tho (Contest results will be announced on July 28, 2024, and the 10 best projects will be selected to continue in the program. capital raising process).

- Training program: From July 28 to September 30, 2024 (The Organizing Committee will create conditions for projects to receive training to complete the project to enter the capital calling round).

- Capital Calling Round: Expected to be held on October 10, 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City, where selected projects will present and convince investors to invest in the project.

Competition prizes:

Winning projects will receive a Souvenir Cup, Certificate, and many attractive values:

First prize is worth 40,000,000 VND

Second prize is worth 30,000,000 VND

Third prize is worth 20,000,000 VND

Consolation prize worth 10,000,000 VND

Additional prizes for outstanding projects on the following criteria:

In addition, winning projects will have the opportunity to participate in international training programs and receive direct investment and sponsorship from investors.

In particular, winning projects will receive an incubation package worth 80 million VND from Ho Chi Minh City's science and technology development source, guided by the Department of Science and Technology in coordination with the City Department of Tourism.
